Valentine’s Day Gift Ideas for a Special Co-Worker

December 31st, 2007 by Jeannine C

Just as much as Valentine’s Day is a time to tell the love of your life how you feel about them, it’s a time to let other special people know how they make your day brighter.  I’m talking about friends, co-workers, even distant relatives who White And Red Rose Shaped Floating Candles From Illuminations remember your birthday each year.  There’s something extra special about being remembered on Valentine’s Day – a day focused on treasuring relationships and friendships. And when you’re looking for a simple, inexpensive idea to let someone know they’re special, candles make a wonderful choice.

I’ve given co-workers scented candles with excellent results.  Even though you can’t burn a candle in an office, taking the top off a richly scented jar candle fills a cubicle with delicious fragrance without spreading the aroma throughout the office.  If your recipient has allergies, go with a cute shaped candle instead – perhaps a pretty flower such as a rose or gardenia, or something cute like a starfish or candle filled sea shells.

If you both have stressful jobs, an aromatherapy candle containing essential oils that create a peaceful mood, like gourmet vanilla, green tea & ginger or thai lemongrass (all available as long-lasting Therape candles from Candle Bay).

For one of my favorite co-workers, everything in her life was focused on her kids, so I tried to keep that in mind when I picked something out for her.  I went with a set of four candles that looked and smelled like different flavors of cupcakes.  She loved it, especially since her kids loved it, and I always got a smile from her each morning when I got to the office.

Who are the special people you work with each day?  Take a few minutes now to remember them at Valentine’s Day, and you’ll ensure getting a smile each morning for the rest of the year.

By the way, all of these Valentine’s Day candle gifts can be found in our Valentine’s Day Candle Shop.

French Perfume Candles – A Great Gift for Valentine’s Day!

December 27th, 2007 by Jeannine C

French perfume, or parfum as the French say it, is imagined to be the finest in the world.  Names like Chanel leap to mind French Perfume Scented Votive Valentine's Day Candles From CandleBay when you talk about French perfume.  Of course it normally comes with a price to match its reputation, so giving it as a gift for Valentine’s Day could be tough, unless you find another way to do it!  This year, finding a terrific Valentine’s Day gift of French perfume for your girlfriend or wife got even easier, thanks to Candle Bay.

The designers at Candle Bay have created a special Paris Nights Votive Set which comes with seven votive candles and a beautiful votive candle holder.  Each candle contains the scent of French parfum.  The trick with real perfume is making it last – it disappears before you know it!  These pretty red votive candles burn up to 2 hours each for full fragrance; even while just sitting in their votive holder, a tiny hint of fragrance scents the air with its delicate, sweet aroma.  No bottle of perfume could ever last that long!

The entire gift comes in a heart-shaped gift box decorated with red polka dots and vertical stripes on the sides – very French indeed!  The clear cover enables your sweetie to quickly see just how thoughtful you are, with enough candles to last every night of the week!

When we saw this great gift, we couldn’t wait to put it in our Valentine’s Day Candle Shop.  Why not order one for each special lady on your list?  You can count on an ooh-la-la for sure!

Make Your Own Christmas Luminaries with Candles and Decorated Bags

December 10th, 2007 by Jeannine C

For centuries, in one form or another, luminaries have been lit along roads and streets to commemorate the search by Mary and Joseph for shelter on Christmas Eve.  The modern version of luminaries can be as simple as a candle in a paper bag to a fancy metal Use Votive Candles And Holders From 100Candles To Make Your Own Christmas Luminariescontainer with stars, bells, or other images punch-pressed on the sides.  Whatever container you choose, luminaries are one of the nicest ways to bring light and movement to your outdoor decorating scheme.  Thanks to the  low cost of votive Christmas candles, it’s also one of the most inexpensive too!

Making your own luminaries can be a fun project for the entire family.  Many dollar stores offer a variety of colored lunch bags; personally I like a variety of colors, but you can focus on just red or green, or a single color if you prefer.  Before you shop, estimate the number you will need – I like to place Christmas luminaries about 18” apart; you can go wider, but I wouldn’t go over two feet between bags.  It’s also quite pretty to place one bag on each step leading to your doorway, and if your front steps don’t have a wall on one side, place a luminary on both ends to extra effect.

Now let the kids draw Christmas designs on the outside of the bags with magic markers or crayons.  Stars, Christmas trees, angels – whatever their little hearts desire.  At dusk, place the bags outside, with a little sand in the bottom to hold them in place, nestle a single votive candle into the sand, add a flame, and voila! You now have a beautifully lit path leading Christmas guests to your doorway.

You can find a great selection of votive candles and votive candle holders at Discount Candle Shop. If your children are small or you have pets and thus prefer electric or battery operated votive candles, 100Candles has the best selection at fantastic prices!
